The story of Kanavi
Kanavi has made his name known tho whole world despite drama around Griffin and his contract.
The League of Legends European League, or LEC, Regular Series is over and it's time to start the playoffs! There are the best six teams involved and the stakes are the spring championship. The structure of the playoffs changed for this season and detailed information on the format can be found on the Tournament page. However, it is time to quickly recall what it is all about. In the new format, investments mean even more and it was also reflected at the end of the regular season as a fierce battle for every investment. The top six teams advance to the playoffs. The top four are placed at the top of the double-elimination chart and the remaining two start at the bottom of the chart. At the top of the chart, teams that experience a loss fall to the bottom of the chart and at the bottom of the chart, the loss knows the end of the season. Regular season winner G2 Esports was given the choice of playing against Origen or MAD against Lions. G2 chose MAD Lions, so in the first round we see the battles at the top of the chart for G2 Esports vs MAD Lions and Fnatic vs Origen, as well as the thrill play Misfits Gaming vs Rogue at the bottom of the chart. The winners at the top of the chart will be battling for a place in the spring final next weekend. The winner of the bottom chart match will face the worse top chart loser in the regular season next week and the winner of this match will face another of the top chart losers. The second final place will be decided by the two remaining teams at the bottom of the chart. And to the delight of spectators, all the playoffs are played in the best of five match series. Probably the most one-sided battle of the entire playoffs. G2 Esports has played (almost) all season at a completely different level than the MAD Lions. However, the G2 tends to try a little special tactics from time to time and since this match is a very one-sided battle in advance, new attempts can well be seen. It opens up the possibility for MAD Lions to take a single map, even though it should have no chance of winning the match series. Betting on the winner of a match series is almost impossible, but betting on a 3-1 result or the fact that we see more than 3.5 maps can very well double the money and I think it is a very good bet. If Friday’s match is perhaps the most one-sided battle of the playoffs, then this is probably the smoothest and most exciting. In all likelihood, these two teams are the only ones who can challenge the G2 in any way, and so this match is really important, as the winner gets to hit the G2 even before the final. Both won one of the team-to-team encounters in the regular season, but with Origen on the neck from the start of the season, Fnatic has been stronger than the twins in the second half of the season. Fnatic’s brilliant and versatile picks have also become a fate for many teams in recent weeks. So I’ll lightly elevate Fnatic as a favorite for this match series, though Origen has its own chance for a surprise. Much depends on whether Fnatic will force Origen to give up its boring and slow style of play or whether the matches will slowly go into the late game according to Origen’s script. Origen is offered up to 2.7 odds and it’s something worth grabbing. The first death match for these playoffs. Even a couple of weeks ago would have given Rogue an advantage, but two 0-2 weeks to the end of the regular season when the ranking at the top of the chart was in their own hands gives cause for concern. Not even the results of Misfits are very flattering from the last weeks of the season, but there have been good signs in its game nonetheless. Rogue has a chance to surprise, but Misfits is a clear favorite on departure. Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten in particular has been in a very wild mood and in the eyes of many even nominated for the best mid laner in the league. When combined with the fact that Razork has played a tremendous season of income, I believe Misfits will seek victory through mid-Jungle synergy. Rogue has at times shown mental weakness as a chaser, so for this reason a 3-0 score may be worth the risk even though a fairly steady series of matches is to be expected.
