Week 5 of the LCS begins this weekend and it’s time for another preview page and some predictions. Week 4 didn’t really change much of the standings and if you missed any of those matches be sure to check out our Week 4 Review page! Cloud 9 looks to close out the first Round Robin 9-0 while TL and Broxah look to shore up all their previous shortcomings. For more information regarding the split make sure to check out our event page here! We kick off the weekend with a pretty heavyweight match. TSM are still trying to prove that they deserve a top spot in the LCS while 100 Thieves are still trying to prove that they are contenders for the top of the table. 100T would do well to win here and unless Meteos is ready to perform at the level expected of him in order to help Ryoma through this tough mid match up, TSM should have this one in the bag. The classic “David and Goliath” storyline here with a lot less David coming out on top. C9 should be able to clinch this not only cleanly but in record time. Pobelter steps in for Crown as is to be expected to some degree but that isn’t enough variation to give CLG much of a chance. The odds are against CLG here and that may be an inviting bet to make but C9 really should not lose this game, it’s not G2 vs Schalke. DIG is on a downward spiral, they came out swinging but really dropped some important games. The same is true for Immortals but the IMT squad overall has proven their worth. It may be a tossup in the end but Immortals wont make the same mistakes they did last week and Dignitas shouldn’t be able to mount their comeback just yet. A week ago I would have expected FLY to be clear favorites to win this one, and some would argue they still are. If there is an upset to be had my gut is saying it would be here for the Golden Guardians. I think both squads’ success has been, more or less, a bit flukeish. FlyQuest should come out on top here as far as standings are concerned but I’m going to call Golden Guardians on this one. --- Okay here we go, the stage is set for a practiced full Team Liquid squad to come rampaging through with a clean 2-0 week. It all starts here, we’ve been riding the horse from the beginning with hopeful intent, and this is where it starts to pay off. EG has looked terrible leading up to this and really, so has TL. It might be closer than originally thought but I think this week we see TL’s true colors, one way or the other. TL has my vote in regards to winning. I know, I know, C9-0 will be shortly lived as they go 10-0 here. I’m done doubting the C9 perfect split, I really am. The only way they get challenged in the running for that First seed into playoffs is if someone goes 8-1 in the second Round Robin. Immortals are looking like the only team to do so and if they do win here against C9 then maybe they can go 9-0, but that doesn’t seem very likely in the end. This will be a match for the ages to prove who deserves what come playoffs. I know I called GG to beat FLY but that’s an underdog perspective, so both teams could very well be 0-1 coming into this match and if Golden Guardians win they will separate themselves from the bottom of the table while 100T would set themselves up to contest for the top of the table. Golden Guardians has proven their worth up to this point and should be favorites coming into this one. This is a very tragic week for CLG all things considered. I may stick up my nose at the success of FLY thus far but the proofs in the pudding for this match. Pobelter won't fix CLG and FLY should find at least one win this weekend and most likely will take a nice 2-0 week. This match at the very least guarantees them a 1-1 week. Luckily for EG, TSM hasn’t really gotten a chance to shine, though that isn’t to say they aren’t favored coming into this one. Evil Geniuses have the manpower to win games but they haven’t shown much against teams they could have beaten with a clean slate. I have a lot of trust in TSM to win this one and really solidify their position in the standings after this weekend. Team Liquid has had a rough first half of the split, luckily they end it and start the second half against two teams that are just barely above them in the standings. As long as they have cleaned up their act coming into week 5, it should be a nice 2-0 to get them back in the running for a top spot. DIG would do well to shut down Broxah the same way Immortals did but with a huge question mark ping still surrounding Grig, I don’t think it will play out the same way. Broxah didn’t really show up, Immortals inted a game last week, FlyQuest went 2-0, and 100 Thieves lost in draft twice so my predictions fall to a measly 17-23, but I’m thinking everything will even out this week as we move into the second half of the Round Robin, make sure to check back next week for our Week 5 Review and our Week 6 Preview!
