The story of Kanavi
Kanavi has made his name known tho whole world despite drama around Griffin and his contract.
The LCS is still going strong despite the Players Association polling majority to cancel the Spring Split. Whether that was the right call or not there’s still a week left to be played before anything is set in stone. A lot of drama surrounds the table as these last two days of games decide the fate of eight teams in the league and there are over 1024 different ways for the games to end, that’s a pretty long Foldy Sheet! If you missed any of the games from last week make sure to check out our Week 8 Review Page and if you are new to the LCS make sure to check out our Tournament Page here! Every game this week is crucial, but for these two teams, this is the most important game they play before tie breakers. 100 Thieves need every win to help secure a playoff spot while TSM needs to win to get that number 2 seed in the playoffs. Overall TSM should have this in the bag, but 100 Thieves are coming off a win over FlyQuest while TSM took the L against Immortals last week. Pound for pound, TSM should be the favorites but we are still looking for Meteos to pick it up just a little bit more, and if he does, 100T could become a real Dark Horse to win the split. Before this week we would have never questioned the outcome of this game. C9 went 2-0 last week but they were also seriously close matches, whether that was C9 goofing off or their enemies tryharding, it's hard to say. Cloud9 should be the favorites but with the way things have been going, there is a solid chance EG will take it. As we have reached the end of the split I’m going to go with the obvious favorite in C9 to try and pad my prediction stat, but I really wouldn’t be surprised if EG pulls off the upset here. I can already hear the shouting, but Team Liquid has to take this one. It’s not that we are still waiting for TL to show up, or that FLY don’t deserve their position. This is about the pure strengths of each team. Team Liquid have looked bad no doubt, but they can’t miss playoffs, their roster is star studded, great players. At the end of the day, when wolves have their backs against the wall, all that's left to do is strike, and FLY already lost to a worse version of TL once. This game won't mean much for CLG, but Golden Guardians still have a chance at playoffs. While GG doesn't exactly admire their spot in the standings, their strength of schedule this week is highly favorable. All they have to do is beat CLG and FLY and pray that some things fall through for them. GG should win here, and they really really need to. Another battle much like the TSM v 100 Thieves game, both of these teams are fighting to get a playoff spot, the biggest difference here is that DIG can’t lose or they’ll be out of the running entirely. This feels like a pretty easy call, but I’m still hoping DIG fields Damonte and maybe even Fenix to try and shake up the final week of the LCS. IMT will enter the fight for second place after this match though. It’s do or die here for the Golden Guardians. I think that it’s a fair statement to say that GG’s chances are slim to none but FLY may not be gunning for a second place finish, they probably are but if they aren’t then they may be a little too lax. FlyQuest should take it though, whether they start Solo or Viper this game should be pretty straightforward. There really isn’t a way for DIG to win here realistically. Akaadian may look for revenge against his old Org but Dardoch should easily cut him off at the pass. The rest of the players all match up pretty well for TSM and even with substitutions from DIG their chances are insanely low. This game will decide a lot for either side. EG could miss out on a top 3 finish if they lose here and IMT may just be able to steal it from them. Focusing on the game though, EG are looking a lot better than IMT coming into this one, and they have my vote for sure. Wow, what a perfect script. More than likely if TL are looking for a playoff spot at this point they have to get through the big bad Cloud9 roster. It’s not looking good for TL and their playoff chances but as long as they secure that win over FLY, then they may still have tiebreakers to play after this one. C9 shouldn’t have a problem with anything other than complacency in this one, and Reapered wouldn’t let that happen again, right? The last game of the weekend may just be the most important. Counter Logic Gaming are set to deny 100T any hope of making the playoffs and depending on how Saturday's game went for them, a team or two may be relying on CLG to make a miracle upset here. I’m backing 100T making playoffs though and CLG has a few more changes to make before they bounce back, no upsets here. With 40 correct predictions and 40 incorrect ones, this weekend means a lot for my record, but it means even more to the 8 teams still jostling for playoff positions. It may not be the playoff Finals, but it may be the most intense week the LCS has ever had, and it will all be played online. Don’t miss out on the action, but if you have to for whatever reason, make sure to check back here next week for our Week 9 Review. LCS Spring 2020 Week 9 Preview
