#HSH Week 8: Group D Preview
The last group of #HomeSweetHomes final week is upon us and as always we preview the teams. AGF Esport, Complexity Gaming, Hard Legion ...
The seventh week of #HomeSweetHome is underway and today it’s time for group C to enter the action! We are in for a treat as OG enters the tournament and there is no doubt they do so as a clear favourite to win it all. KOVA Esports are also back for the second time, but they will have a tough ask ahead of them as Copenhagen Flames and forZe are two proven teams and both have the playoffs in their sights. The four will fight it out for the two spot to the playoffs and a chance at the total of $40,000 that gets awarded weekly. If you want to read more about #HomeSweetHome and the tournament as a whole head over to our event page! Copenhagen Flames are no strangers to #HomeSweetHome with two previous showings in the backpack. A semifinal is the highlight for the team, who since has participated in Road to Rio and considering the level of competition the Danes did very well with wins against c0ntact Gaming, North and Movistar Riders. However, the team has gone through a roster change following the departure of Asger "farlig" Jensen, who joined GODSENT about a week ago. It’s truly a big loss for Copenhagen Flames, as farlig often was the best player in the team and replacing him won’t be an easy task. HECTOz was the choice for the team, and while he has big shoes to fill, he’s a rather unknown player. He will quickly be put to the test together with the rest of the team as they face forZe in their opening game and OG also takes part in the group. It’s fair to assume the second place will go to either Copenhagen Flames or forZe and while it’s a close one, the edge for now has to be with forZe as the loss of farlig might be a bit too much for Copenhagen Flames to handle. The story of forZe in #HomeSweetHome is not easy to describe, as they have reached playoffs most of the time, but fallen short when it mattered the most. Good performances are mixed with some massive nose dives. The last few weeks has still been a step forward for the team, as they entered a weaker period for a while. On the positive side of things both FL1T and xsepower has played really well over the last couple of weeks and that is exactly what forZe needs to find consistency, but also to be able to challenge the top teams of #HomeSweetHome. We believe another playoff spot is on the horizon for forZe and depending on who they have to face in the playoffs they have good chances for a deep run. This Finnish squad has been together for about a year at this point, and while it’s hard to find any real highlights from their time together, they have challenged other top teams in Finland. Lately they have showed respectable level of play in Elisa Invitational, where they beat Nordavind and North in best of one games. This was followed up by a showing in the fourth week of #HomeSweetHome, where the team lost closely to Endpoint and SMASH Esports for a fast exit. The player to highlight in KOVA is by a mile the 17 year old Derkeps, who hoists numbers that makes him one of the biggest prospects in Finland at this point. Challenging the likes of forZe and OG definitely won’t be an easy task for the Finns, but on their absolute best it’s not impossible they could come up with upsets. Facing OG in the opening game does not help their situation, but a best of one is what it is and nothing is over until it’s done. KOVA are more than likely not going to the playoffs, but we feel like they might be a bit underestimated. OG is entering #HomeSweetHome for the first time and with they are in our eyes the second team, together with Complexity Gaming, a team of world class to attend. There is no doubt the hyped up squad arrives as a very clear favourite to win it all, but let's have a look at their past months. OG went on an impressive run in ESL Pro League during April, where they managed to win against teams such as mousesports, G2 Esports and Fnatic, but eventually they fell just short to Astralis and FaZe Clan. All in all it was definitely a show of strength and the team has the potential to be a solid top 10 team of the world, if not more. Just days ago the team also participated in Gamers Without Borders, where a win against Fnatic was followed up with a close loss to mousesports. The squad lead by AleksiB has proven themselves over and over, but we have to highlight especially mantuu as the player to watch in this team. When joining the team he might have been the question mark, but he has proven himself to be the perfect joker for the team and his past months have been nothing short of excellent. OG reaching the playoffs should be a piece of cake, even if the group could prove itself harder than some might think. However this weeks #HomeSweetHome ends up for OG, it sure is a pleasure to welcome a team of their caliber to the server!
