#HSH Week 8: Group D Preview
The last group of #HomeSweetHomes final week is upon us and as always we preview the teams. AGF Esport, Complexity Gaming, Hard Legion ...
#HomeSweetHome is about to start its third week of play today after a small break. As per usual we will analyse the teams and make our predictions. Apeks, AVEZ, Sprout and Virtus.Pro will fight it out in Group A for the two spot to the playoffs and a chance at the total of $40,000 that gets awarded weekly. Apeks and AVEZ are both new to #HomeSweetHome and they are ready to show that they belong, and in all honesty their previous results show that is the truth. Both Sprout and Virtus.Pro wants to improve their track record in the tournament, but the question is if the newcomers can stop them in their tracks? That’s what we will try to answer below as we have a look at all four teams to make our final prediction. If you want to read more about #HomeSweetHome and the tournament as a whole head over to our event page! Bigger parts of this Apeks lineup has stayed together for well over a year and there has been some success along the road, but it has mostly been against lower tier competition. Apeks latest venture was in Elisa Invitational where the Norwegians picked up wins against GODSENT and KOVA Esports, but in the end they fell short to ENCE for a spot to the Spring Showdown. In #HomeSweetHome the opposition is definitely of a level Apeks can challenge, but their opening game against Virtus.Pro will be tough. The group draw as a whole for Apeks is far from horrible, but the team will need to step it up to make playoffs, but to be fair Apeks could go far if they can play on their highest level. This Polish team has been together since the end of last year and even if there is a lack of real results to speak of, they have picked up a whole lot of nice wins the last months. In the European qualifier to Flashpoint AVEZ win five straight games against teams like HellRaisers, HAVU and Winstrike, all in best of threes. Besides that they took maps of OG and GODSENT just two weeks ago, and as such, it is obvious there is some serious talent and skill in AVEZ. The level of competition in #HomeSweetHome should in all honesty fit AVEZ perfectly and if players like Markoś and KEi can deliver their best they could go really far. With that said they will be put straight to the test when they face Sprout in the opener and that could prove itself the deciding factor of the teams success in their first week of #HomeSweetHome. Since we saw Sprout in #HomeSweetHome last time a change has happened - Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný has left the team and left room for snatchie. As much as this might sound like a big hit for the team, oskar really has not played on the level one can expect. If anything this might help Sprout take a step forward as it’s clear the team has potential to improve. While Sprout reached a semifinal in the first week of #HomeSweetHome, the second one ended in disappointment after two losses to forZe and a missed playoff spot. For this week the goal should be clear for Sprout - make the playoffs. With the roster change that doesn’t look all too promising though, especially as replacing oskar with snatchie doesn’t look all that impressive, even if oskar wasn’t playing at his best. FaveN and dycha has been the shining lights for Sprout lately, but even if they keep it up we believe this will be too tough for the team this time around. The opener against AVEZ is a must win for Sprout, that much is for sure. With two straight playoffs spots in #HomeSweetHome one could think things are looking good for Virtus.Pro, but the truth is the team has struggled more than they should. The level of competition in the tournament is of a caliber that Virtus.Pro should be able to dominate, but we have not seen that this far. However things might be looking up for the former Major finalists as they managed to achieve a massive 2-0 win against Natus Vincere just days ago. The truth is that when Dzhami “JAME” Ali, Alexey “qikert” Golubev and Timur “buster” Tulepov play on the highest level all together Virtus.Pro is a very good team and even if half of that is true in #HomeSweetHome week three, they will manage another playoff spot. They could however reach much further than that and winning it all is not unthinkable at all.
