#HSH Week 8: Group D Preview
The last group of #HomeSweetHomes final week is upon us and as always we preview the teams. AGF Esport, Complexity Gaming, Hard Legion ...
#HomeSweetHome is about to start its second week of play today and as per usual we will analyse the teams and make our predictions. Movistar Riders, Syman Gaming, Virtus.Pro and Team Spirit will fight it out in Group A for the two spot to the playoffs and a chance at the total of $40,000 that gets awarded weekly. The first week saw BIG win it all in an exciting final against Team Spirit. The CIS squad made an amazing comeback after shaky play in the group stage and this time around the team will look at going all the way, but first of all they will battle Virtus.Pro in a really hot match to kick off the second week in #HomeSweetHome! If you want to read more about #HomeSweetHome and the tournament as a whole head over to our event page! Last week in #HomeSweetHome was something of a disaster for Movistar Riders, who suffered a crushing 4-16 loss in the opener against Japaleno, just to lose 0-2 to Sprout in the elimination match. It’s fair to say that the team is coming to week 2 with revenge on their mind and the opening game against Syman will be absolutely crucial, but with that said they can call themselves fortunate to not play any of the other two teams. Movistar Riders also beat Syman just days ago in the Cyber.Bet Cup, which definitely should give some confidence. We do however believe Movistar Riders will miss out on the playoffs once again, but a win against Syman could potentially open up the door to success as winning against Virtus.Pro is not an impossible task for this team. Once again we want to mention a noteworthy thing about Movistar Riders - you shouldn't confuse their names with other players. ALEX is not the British ALEX who previously played in Team Vitality, steel is not the Canadian steel playing for Chaos and the coach of Movistar Riders, bladE is not Natus Vinceres coach B1ad3. Confusing, we know... Symans first week in #HomeSweetHome ended with two straight losses - 10-16 to BIG and 1-2 against Team Spirit, but it’s worth noting they only got to play the two future finalists, which is as unlucky as you can get. Once again Syman has ended up in a tough group where Virtus.Pro and Team Spirit are the two big favorites. With that said Syman definitely still should have a chance to make it to the playoffs, but their opening game versus Movistar Riders will be absolutely crucial for their success, just as it is for the opponent. Can the veteran Rustem “mou” Telepov lead these youngsters to success in the second week of #HomeSweetHome? We think it will be close, but fall just short due to a tough group draw. In the first week of #HomeSweetHome Virtus.Pro had to take the long way to playoffs after suffering a disappointing loss to Gambit Youngsters in their opening game. After hard battles against Nordavind and the youngsters from Gambit they had finally secured a spot in the playoffs, but the coming champions BIG were one notch too big for Virtus.Pro who with that said, put up a great fight. Coming in to the second week the team should have high expectations as they are a team who could go all the way. It is however incredibly unfortunate for them to face Team Spirit in the first round, who will be favored coming into the game. Virtus.Pro could once again have to go the long way to even reach the playoffs in the first place. Would they win the opener the road is open to go really deep. It’s impossible to overstate the importance of the opening best of one match between two of the better teams in #HomeSweetHome. Team Spirit is the runner-up of the first week of #HomeSweetHome and there should only be one thing in mind for this team coming in to week 2 - winning it all. Last week Spirit started fairly slow and risked going out already in groups, in a weak group mind you. They did get their team together to make an amazing comeback and they weren’t far from winning the final either in all honesty, even if they fell like a house of cards on the third map against BIG. Spirit being the main favorite to win Group A doesn’t need an explanation, but as mentioned the opening game will be critical and in case of a loss things could get tricky real fast for Spirit. While we still believe in them being the strongest team in the group, we wouldn’t see it as a massive upset to see them fall, especially since Spirit has shown signs of crumbling completely on a map here and there.
