#HSH Week 8: Group D Preview

#HomeSweetHomes third week has reached its semifinals, of which both will be played today, Sunday, along with the Grand Final that takes place tonight. The tournament started with 16 hopeful teams and at this point only four remains. SMASH Esports, Complexity Gaming, Endpoint or the reigning champions BIG will be crowned the winner of week three tonight and as such bring home the $30,000, while the second place finisher gets $10,000. With all that said, it's time for us to have a look at the semifinals and evaluate who we think has what it takes to win it all. The first semifinal between these two teams is set to start at 14.50 CET and we have quite the clear favourite in Complexity, but is it really that one sided? Endpoint has been quite a stable team in #HomeSweetHome this far, but this semifinal is still the furthest they have got. This week the team has been impressive and have gather wins against SKADE, Team Secret and Sprout, but Complexity is definitely a notch or two better than those teams. Joey “CRUC1AL” Steusel, Kia “Surreal” Man and Thomas “Thomas” Utting has looked great and they need to keep that up to even stand a chance against this juggernaut. With that said there still should be a decent chance for Endpoint to get an upset win here, but they will have to stop players such as Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke, Valentin “poizon” Vasilev and Owen “oBo” Schlatter, who have all looked outstanding this far. It will not be an easy task, but with both teams looking to be in great form we are at least expecting a fair fight. Endpoint will however have to wait for a final spot in #HomeSweetHome, but if they keep on improving they might just get there in the near future. The two time champions BIG have run through the third week of #HomeSweetHome without breaking a sweat and realistically they should reach the grand final once again. As if we have not praised Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş and Florian “syrsoN” Rische enough already it just has to be said that the two players are in phenomenal form. They look completely unstoppable just as the team as a whole. SMASH Esports might just be the one underdog who has the momentum and could do something to stop BIG in their tracks. The team destroyed AGO in their quarterfinal , as they only dropped 9 rounds in two maps, but in all honesty AGO looked lost and crushed from the beginning. We won’t want to overvalue the wins SMASH Esports have picked up this far, but it has to be said players like Denis “grux” Gutaj and Kristjan “shokz” Jakobson are looking great this week and with especially Kristjan “fejtZ” Allsaar as a player who can step up to great levels there is something to this team. It seems that on a good day SMASH Esports can achieve the unthinkable and that is for certain what’s needed today. All that said we still can’t go against BIG going to their third straight final as they seem to play at their best in the most crucial moments. Reaching this far is already a success for SMASH Esports and in the future they might stand a better chance. Both semifinals have a massive favourite, but the underdogs they are facing have shown great form and as such we wouldn’t completely write off Endpoint or SMASH Esports. It seems clear that both underdogs have a good future and will be able to compete for final spots in upcoming weeks, but the match ups they face now should simply be too much to ask. A final between BIG and Complexity Gaming is what we would have expected when the tournament started and it would really be a great ending to #HomeSweetHome week 3 to see these two teams go head to head. That match up definitely promises quite the banger and if that happens we honestly can’t say who we would favour. Completing the triple from BIG would be quite the statement though!
