#HSH Week 8: Group D Preview
The last group of #HomeSweetHomes final week is upon us and as always we preview the teams. AGF Esport, Complexity Gaming, Hard Legion ...
#HomeSweetHome will be played over the span of 8 weeks and every week in itself is as a mini tournament. Each group plays out in a day and this time around it's time for us to have a look at group D, which on paper might just be the toughest of them all. Virtus.Pro, forZe, Nordavind and Gambit Youngsters on paper sounds like a group that will offer some quality games of CS:GO. Two of these teams will move on from the group to fight for the $40,000 that will be awarded at the end of the week. If you want to know more about #HomeSweetHome you can head over to our event page! This five man lineup has been together for almost exactly two years and they have few excellent results in their backpack. The CIS squad participated in ESL Pro League and impressed by grabbing wins against compLexity, North and BIG to to reach a decider match against FaZe Clan for a spot in Stage 2. The story did end there, but all in all the results in the tournament was a success story for the team, as they went up against the best teams in the world. ForZe is a team who can challenge even the best in the world, especially when xsepower has one of his good days, which seems to be more often than not. In #HomeSweetHome forZe should be seen as one of the main favorites to hoist the trophy at the end of it all and they should at a minimum advance to the playoffs from group D. As the name suggest this is a team of youngsters, but they should most definitely be underestimated because of that. sh1ro" is potentially one the biggest talents the CIS region has seen since the rise of Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev and he can on his own raise Gambit Youngsters to extreme heights. For the team to have a chance to reach playoffs sh1ro needs to be on his best, but also have a team performing on a good level. At times Ax1Le" have shown moments of brilliance and for Gambit Youngsters to excel against big names like Virtus.Pro and forZe he needs to support sh1ro as the second carry of the team. Chances are realistically not too big for the youngsters to reach the playoffs, but on a good day nothing is impossible for these talented players. The group draw is most definitely unfortunate for them as well, as they could have much better chances in some of the others. This Nordavind team has been built around tenzki and cromen who joined just about a year ago. Since then Hallzerk and RUBINO has left the team and been replaced by NaToSaphiX and HS. The results during 2020 are far from impressive and in all honesty the team arrives to group D as the big underdog. There's very little to suggest that Nordavind could challenge teams of the caliber of Virtus.Pro and forZe, or even Gambit Youngsters. Anything besides a last placing in this group would be a surprise and could be seen as a step forward for the boys in Nordavind. It's easy to forget that this five man lineup played a major final in the fall of 2019 as well as winning BLAST Pro Series Moscow shortly after, as results have faltered since. Especially 2020 has been tough on Virtus.Pro, even though their latest tournament, ESL Pro League, was a fall forward. The team managed to pick up wins against OG and TYLOO, even if they came at a point when they were out of the playoff contention. With all that said Virtus.Pro is used to playing in high tier tournaments and in #HomeSweetHome they will face easier opponents, which should make their chances more than good to go far. The first step is to reach the playoffs and while that might be a challenge, they clearly should. forZe might very well be a stronger team than Virtus.Pro, but neither Gambit Youngsters or Nordavind really should be.
